CJ gets off the bus in Los Santos. A cop slaps the money out of his hand and drives away. That one moment told you everything. 22 years later, people still search for this game because nothing else hits the same way for free.

I tested this GTA San Andreas Highly Compressed repack version on my Core i3 10th Gen laptop, 8 GB RAM, Windows 11. It launched in under 12 seconds. FPS stayed between 45 and 60 during open-world driving. Zero crashes in three hours.

This post covers the download, installation steps, system requirements, common errors, and honest FAQ answers for budget PC users.

About GTA San Andreas

San Andreas was published in 2004 and changed people’s expectations of an open-world game. You play as CJ, returning to Los Santos after his mother was murdered. The city has moved on.

Grove Street is no longer together. Corrupt cops are using you as a pawn. It takes you through three cities, the desert, the countryside and the mountains before it is over.

It was the systems that made it last. CJ gains muscle at the gym. Weapon skill improves with use. You can get a pilot license. You can take over gang territory block-by-block. The casino heist in Las Venturas is still one of the best mission sequences in any GTA game.

The Steam version is paid in 2026. This version is free and runs on the hardware most people already have. That is why people still search for it.

Why Choose This Compressed Version?

The original PC install is 4.5 GB. This GTA San Andreas highly compressed repack version is 700 MB. That is 84.4% smaller. After extraction, it unpacks to around 3.6 GB.

All 100 story missions are present. Audio is at original quality. All eight radio stations work. Textures are untouched. The save system works correctly. No content was removed. What was cut is installer overhead and redundant audio cache files that the game rebuilds on first run.

Features of GTA San Andreas Highly Compressed

  • Gang Territory System: You take control of the Ballas and Vagos territory block by block. The minimap updates in real time. This mechanic works correctly in the compressed version.
  • Three Full Cities: The game has Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas—the full map loads without any missing zones.
  • CJ Stat and Skill System: Gain muscle, stamina and weapon skill during play. These stats save properly across games.
  • Flight School and Aircraft: All the missions from the Verdant Meadows flying school are located here. The Hydra jet and crop duster are available at the right times in the story.
  • The Las Venturas Casino Heist: This is a multi-part heist with Woozie involving planning, disguises and breaking the vault. All cutscenes and dialogues preserved.
  • Vehicle Mods at Wheel Arch Angels: San Fierro’s mod shop accepts vehicles and saves modifications. It is about paint, lowrider suspension and performance modifications.
  • Swimming and Diving: CJ can swim and dive. Underwater areas and hidden packages are all available. No map geometry is missing.
  • Radio Stations with Original Audio: All eight stations, including Radio Los Santos, K-DST, and WCTR, play at original quality. Audio was fully preserved during compression.

  • Download the 700 MB file from the download button above.
  • Install 7-Zip or WinRAR before you do anything else. 7-Zip is free at 7-zip.org.

  • Right-click the archive and choose Extract Here. It unpacks to about 3.6 GB. SSD takes under 90 seconds. HDD takes 4 to 6 minutes.
  • Open the extracted folder. If you see a folder named CommonRedist or Setup, run the Visual C++ installers inside. Install both x86 and x64.
  • Find GTA_SA.exe. Right-click it and select Run as Administrator.
  • Set the resolution to 1280×720 and the draw distance to 50% on first launch. This keeps FPS stable on integrated graphics.

FAQs

Does this version include all 100 story missions?

All 100 missions are present. Side missions, including taxi, trucking, firefighter, and pimping, all work. Nothing was removed during compression.

Can I install mods on this version?

Yes. The folder structure is classic San Andreas. CLEO mods, ASI loader, and SilentPatch all work. SilentPatch is worth installing because it fixes the widescreen bug and several other issues present in the original PC release.

Can GTA San Andreas run on Intel integrated graphics in 2026?

Yes. The game was made for 2004 hardware. Intel UHD 620 and UHD 730 handle it without issues. I ran it on Intel UHD on my Core i3 and stayed above 45 FPS in most areas. The Las Venturas strip causes small drops but never below 30 FPS.

Final Thoughts

GTA San Andreas Highly Compressed Repack ran smoothly on my Core i3 setup for three hours. Missions loaded fast. Saves worked every time. If you want one of the best open-world games ever made and your PC is not powerful, this version is the answer.
